Chiefs’ Harrison Butker jersey ranks among NFL’s best sellers amid kicker’s faith-based commencement speech
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s weekend at a private Catholic liberal arts school in Kansas has sparked a strong backlash. But amid the backlash, demand for Butker’s Chiefs shirt appears to have increased.
As of Thursday, Butker’s jersey appears to be among the most requested gear by fans on NFL.com. Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ jersey is also among the top-selling jerseys in the league.
Butker wore No. 87 in college when he pitched for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He currently wears the number 7 jersey.

“While COVID may have played a role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” he said. “Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively affected major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as growing support for cultural values and media degenerate, they derive from the generalization of the disorder”.
Butker has spoken about his conservative Catholic beliefs. He also shared a message last year during a commencement speech at his alma mater that was similar to what he said at Benedictine.
“I’m not sure what the root of this is, but I can at least offer a controversial antidote that I think will have a lasting impact for generations to come: get married and start a family,” Butker told the Class of 2023 Georgia Tech.

The NFL issued a statement Thursday to distance itself from Butker, saying the kicker spoke in a “personal capacity” during the commencement address.
“Harrison Butker spoke in a personal capacity,” Jonathan Beane, the NFL’s senior vice president and director of diversity and inclusion, said in a statement sent to People Magazine. “His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”
Butker also encouraged women to embrace what she called the “most important titles of all.” a catholic.
“To the women present today, congratulations on an incredible achievement. You should be proud of all you have achieved to this point in your youth,” she said. “I want to speak directly to you briefly, because I believe it is you women who have been told the most diabolical lies. How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and think of all the promotions and titles that you will achieve in your career. Some of you may go on to have successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that most of you are more excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

“I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life really began when she began to live her vocation as a wife and mother. Today I am on this stage and I can be the man that I am because I have a wife who leans in her vocation, I am more than blessed with the many talents that God has given me, but it cannot be exaggerated that all my success is possible because a girl I met in band class. Middle school would convert, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: housewife.”
The bosses did not immediately respond to requests for comment about Butker’s speech from Fox News Digital. Harrison was drafted in 2017. He has a career field goal percentage of 89.1. He has been a member of three Super Bowl winning teams.
