Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow square off once again in a nascent rivalry
The last time these two great quarterbacks faced each other was in last year’s AFC Championship Game, which featured a relentless Bengals comeback that ultimately ended Kansas City’s season. Only one team could lift the Lamar Hunt Trophy in the end, but both Mahomes and Burrow left their mark on the game.
Mahomes finished the AFC Championship Game with 26 completions, 275 yards, and three passing touchdowns. Burrow, meanwhile, completed 23 passes for 250 yards and two scores. The two players battled until the end of the match while showing their generational talent.
This upcoming matchup may not be a playoff game — it’s only Week 13 — but there’s no reason to expect anything different in what promises to be another great matchup between two very skilled quarterbacks. Mahomes and Burrow echoed each other over the past week as they also talked about their respect for each other.
“He’s the best [quarterback] right now,” Burrow said. “He’s been playing his best all year. It’s fun to watch him play – he wins in a lot of different ways. There really haven’t been many people like him who have come for the game.”
