Week 5: Chiefs vs. Colts on Sunday Night – A Showtime Showdown
Last week was a nail-biter, but Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs did it again, advancing to 4-0 on the year with a 34 to 30 win over the Detroit Lions. The final drive for the Chiefs was truly spectacular with Mahomes showing incredible poise under pressure with two minutes left in regulation, deceiving the defense with sleight of hand trickery to find an open man and laser it in for gain after gain, driving all the way down the field to set up a Darrel Williams touchdown to take the lead with 34 seconds left in the game. Mahomes didn’t have the record-breaking game we predicted, in fact, he didn’t even throw one touchdown, but he proved once again that he knows how to win football games.
Now, it’s week 5 and the Chiefs are facing the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have been playing pretty good this year. Jacoby Brissett has filled in nicely for the recently retired Andrew Luck, he has his team 2-2, sitting tied on top of the AFC South… but he also has never played primetime football in the loudest stadium on Earth – Arrowhead! I predict the Chiefs D having their way with the young QB tonight. And with the Colts being without their star linebacker Darius Leonard again this week, this game could become lopsided in a hurry. The Chiefs should have no trouble running the ball with their three-headed monster. Damian Williams is back which presumably positions him and LeSean McCoy as the top two on the depth chart, but Darrel Williams, who has impressed in Damian’s stead over the last two games, will likely have some action in a third-down/pass-catching role. That being said, it’s still Sunday Night national television so there will be some fireworks. It’s Travis Kelce’s birthday weekend and as we all know, Kelce lives for the spotlight. He had his own reality show for crying out loud! So, no Darius Leonard, national television, birthday weekend… there is no “Catching” Kelce!
Look for Travis Kelce to have a record-breaking night, which means Mahomes will be right there with him. Also, Sammy Watkins is questionable after being downgraded to a limited participant Friday with a hamstring injury. He is expected to play, but there will most likely not be a need for the Chiefs to push Watkins tonight, especially with how well Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson have been playing, resulting in even more targets for the birthday boy Travis Kelce.
Week 5 DraftKings CHIEFS STACK:
Mahomes – RB of your choice (I am leaning toward McCoy) or two (I’ve seen two running backs paired with a QB win before and Mahomes likes to throw it to his backs) – Kelce. You can bring it back with Marlon Mack or T.Y. Hilton. Mack is a little banged up, but he will most likely play. T.Y. is just so good, there is always big-play potential with him. And with a team that’s most likely trailing, I personally am leaning toward T.Y for the bring back.
Sunday night in Arrowhead, baby! Go Chiefs!
