CINCINNATI — A former Bearcat football standout is getting another shot with an NFL team. According to Aaron Wilson, safety James Wiggins is signing with the Chiefs as a part of their practice squad.
The Arizona Cardinals selected Wiggins in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the 243rd pick. He didn’t record a tackle last season but did play 35 special teams snaps across three games for the Cardinals.
The safety finished 2020 with first-team All-AAC honors for UC and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. He played in 32 career games, posting 87 tackles with five interceptions, 18 pass break ups, and two forced fumbles.
Wiggins joins Bryan Cook as a member of the Chiefs.
