Week 2 Chiefs vs. Raiders Preview
Andy Reid’s offense dismantled the Jaguars defense in week 1. Mahomes and Watkins were completely in sync and straight-up sensational, connecting for three touchdowns in the 40 – 26 beatdown. Reid now faces division rival Oakland Raiders coached by ex-Super Bowl champ Jon Gruden, who is coming off his 100th career win. Gruden’s Raiders are looking relatively sharp, but the Denver Broncos’ offense is operating in the Stone Age compared the cutting-edge offensive schemes drawn up by the mastermind Andy Reid. The Raiders defense was among the worst in the NFL last season and lost their two best defensive backs to injury in cornerback Gareon Conley (neck) and safety Jonathan Abram (shoulder), giving Mahomes an opportunity to cash in big… and right there with him on the receiving end, will be Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, and rookie Mecole Hardman.
The Fantasy play of the week for me is Mecole Hardman. There is just too much upside to not roll the dice there. He is priced incredibly low on both Draftkings and Fanduel and has the reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes throwing to him! The Cheetah himself gave Mecole a shoutout on Twitter saying “hold it down” for him while he is out! Tyreek’s sternoclavicular joint dislocation could have him sidelined up to six weeks, incentivizing Coach Reid all the more to get a good look at the field-stretching ability of Mecole Hardman.
Look for Gruden to try and control the clock by feeding rookie RB Josh Jacobs the rock in hopes of slowing down the highflying KC offense. To Mr. Gruden I say, strap on your oxygen mask, because this week… we’re going Mach 7! Go Chiefs!
