The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 23-14 in a divisional-round playoff matchup that will send the defending Super Bowl champions to their seventh-consecutive AFC Championship Game.

Though Kansas City does not yet know who its opponent will be next week, the Chiefs have officially moved one step closer to completing the NFL’s first-ever Super Bowl three-peat.

Kansas City’s ferocious pass rush harassed Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud throughout Saturday’s game, and the Chiefs’ offense was able to find success when Patrick Mahomes targeted star tight end Travis Kelce.

Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive unit tallied seven sacks in the game, and Mahomes combined with Kelce for 117 yards and a touchdown that kept Kansas City in the lead late in the game.

The Chiefs still have plenty of work to do if they intend to complete their quest to become the league’s first-ever back-to-back-to-back champions, but Kansas City’s convincing win over the Texans is an indication that Andy Reid’s team has plenty of gas left in the tank.
